Greenwich Village Gunfight Leaves Four Dead
Last night, JB and I had a nice little dinner date at
'ino. On our walk back to the Broadway/Lafayette stop, we heard a bunch of popping noises coming across Houston street. What we thought were firecrackers turned out to be an armed lunatic with a fake beard, two guns, and a paper bag full of 100 rounds. The blue dot on the map is where we were when all this went down. The shots we heard must've been the ones that killed the bartender. I heard at least 15 shots or so. We saw a couple groups of kids split off in different directions, running like mad. I thought they were just a bunch of punk kids lighting firecrackers and were taking off when they saw the cop lights. I guess they were restaurant patrons. Also turns out that one of the auxiliary officers that got shot and killed was an NYU student who had just moved to Fulton st.-- just a block away from the Johnson House. Guess New York can still be a crazy city.
